2014 IRF World Championships
The USA Racquetball Team finished first against teams from 21 countries who converved in Burlington, Canada near Toronto for the 2014 International Racquetball Federations (IRF) World Championships June 14-21. Mexico came in second and Bolivia third.
The USA Men’s Team finished first, ahead of Bolivia (second) and Colombia (third). In the Men’s Singles bracket, #2-ranked men’s professional International Racquetball Tour (IRT) pro, Rocky Carson, defeated Conrado Moscoso from Bolivia in the final to win the title for the United States Team. Just a few weeks prior, Carson had started swinging with the HEAD Graphene Radical 160 racquet, which took him to his forth consecutive World Singles gold medal and ninth medal overall in IRF competition. Carson’s USA Teammate and Ektelon’s #4 ranked player on the IRT , Jose Rojas, returned home bronze medal in hand.
In the Men’s Doubles bracket, HEAD Penn’s Alejandro Herrera picked up his Graphene Radical 170 and paired with Sebastian Franco to earn the gold medal for Colombia, defeating the Canadian team of Mike Green/Vincent Gagnon. The USA’s Ben Croft/Tom Fuhrman duo earned bronze.
On the women’s side, HEAD’s Paola Longoria captured her second Women’s Singles Championship for Mexico, ahead of the USA’s Rhonda Rajsich who took home silver. Longoria paired with Samantha Sales for a gold in Women’s Doubles, ahead of the US Women’s Doubles Team of Aimee Ruiz/Janel Tisinger.
