Stockton Pro-Am: NorCal’s Oldest Tournament Starts This Week

Art-StocktonProAm2013_200If former top player and tournament director John Ellis’s guess is accurate, the Stockton Pro-Am, taking place May 2-5 in Stockton, California, is Nor Cal’s oldest racquetball tournament and could very well be one of the oldest professional racquetball tournaments in the U.S. “It’s difficult for me to pin down, but my guestimate is 1981 was the first year,” he says. Even with a six-year hiatus in the early 2000s, Ellis is proud of the longevity the tournament has with both the IRT and the former pro tours.

Play the Ball, Not Your Opponent

Unfortunately, if they cannot get these thoughts out of their heads, they generally overplay, want to win too badly, or play too nice because they do not want to hurt their friend’s feelings. Kane d Alvaro WBF at Party with the Pros in Apr 11-14

Kane Waselenchuk won the St. Louis Party with the Pros after an injury forfeit by Alvaro Beltran.

Kane, Upsets Reign at Tournament of Champions 4/25-4/28

#14 Charlie Pratt, back from an ankle injury, defeated #3 Alvaro Beltran in the 16s. After #6 Ben Croft took out Pratt in the quarters, Croft delivered the next upset during an intense battle against #2 Rocky Carson in the semis.

Auction Raises $11,000

The 2nd Annual Rapha House Online Auction, held during March’s  IRT Florida Spring Break ProAm, raised $11,000 for Rapha House, an international organization that rescues children from human trafficking and provides a loving and productive environment in which they can heal.  (
