Sudsy Monchik is back!

Sudsy Monchik is back!

Bordentown, NJ – Ektelon announced today that Sudsy Monchik, the former #1 player in the world has signed a multi year agreement with Ektelon starting with the 2010-2011 IRT Season. Sudsy, a native of Staten Island, NY, first signed with Ektelon when he was eight years old, and now at 36, is back to his roots where it all began.

Monchik, a former 5-Time men’s professional International Racquetball Tour (IRT) Champion and arguably one of the greatest players of all time, will be joining the Ektelon Staff as a Senior Advisor and will play an essential part of the decision making process at Ektelon. According to Ektelon’s Vice President, Scott Winters “Sudsy’s background and knowledge of the game, will be a great asset to all facets of Ektelon, from mentoring our Team Adrenalin stars, attending outdoor and indoor events, product consultation, and much more. Sudsy will be involved in it all!” Winters continues on, “Sudsy will be bringing back the same swagger and energy he had when he was #1 on the IRT Tour, and we are excited for him to get back out into the racquetball scene and interact with all of his fans that have missed him over the past several years.”
Sudsy retired from Professional Racquetball in 2006 due to a chronic back injury called spondylolisthesis. His first year away from the game was spent spending time with his wife Lisa, and coaching his boy’s basketball and football games (which he still does to this day). That same year he decided to try the entrepreneurship route and opened a bagel store in Staten Island, NY, called what else? Sudsy’s Bagels. Business did so well he opened a second bagel store less than 2 years after the first store opened. In September of 2010 he sold his bagel business and decided to come back to the place where it all began for him.
I am excited to be back where I began my career and I look forward to being with Ektelon for the rest of my racquetball journey. Scott, Aimee and the entire Ektelon team have brought me back and made me feel very welcome and excited about the future of Ektelon. I chose Ektelon because their visions and goals are exactly what racquetball players, fans and spectators will want! It feels awesome to be home! See you all soon!” stated Monchik.
Expect to see Sudsy at future IRT Events, The Ektelon Nationals, The WOR Champs and many more events!
