The 2020 Longhorn Open Set to Be an IRT Tier 1 Event
August 20, 2019, Alexandria, VA – The International Racquetball Tour is thrilled to announce that the 2020 Longhorn Open, slated for January 17 – 19, will be an IRT Tier 1 Event.
The Longhorn Open is the premier Texas racquetball event held at the University of Texas at Austin, and every year, tournament proceeds are used to support the UT Racquetball Team’s trip to the US Intercollegiate Championships.
IRT CEO Mike Grisz states, “We are so excited to be a part of the Longhorn Open, where the biggest tournament in the country will have the best men’s professional players! I want to give a big thanks to Tournament Director Soly Kor, because without him, this wouldn’t be possible”. Kor has been running the Longhorn Open for 14 years, and with the help of a few key partners, has built it to what it is today.
“We couldn’t be more excited to join the IRT, and giving Kane Waselenchuk the opportunity to compete in his home city. We always aim to offer the best competition in the nation, and now we’ll be able to showcase the best talent!” says Kor.
Located in the middle of Austin, the Longhorn Open boasts great food, great competition, and a great venue. This tournament is in high demand, selling out in 11 minutes last year with 375 participants and over 150 on the waitlist. This year the tournament will increase capacity to 425 players.
