The agreement partners racquetball’s largest and most prestigious annual tournament with one of the nation’s largest health and well-being companies.

“We are extremely proud to name UnitedHealthcare as the new title sponsor of our sport’s premier event. UnitedHealthcare is a national leader in promoting healthy lifestyles and is one of Minnesota’s largest employers,” said Doug Ganim, US OPEN Racquetball Championships Director.
The 2012 UnitedHealthcare US OPEN Racquetball Championships will be held Oct. 3-7 and is the sport’s original “Grand Slam” event bringing more than 800 players from more than 15 countries, and more than $4 million in economic benefit to the Twin Cities.
The US OPEN Stadium Court – inside the Target Center arena complex at LIFE TIME FITNESS in downtown Minneapolis – is a made-for-TV spectacle of all glass that allows for viewing through all four walls. In addition to the marquee matches in the Men’s Professional and Women’s Professional divisions, the UnitedHealthcare US OPEN Racquetball Championships offers competition among more than 80 USA Racquetball (USAR) amateur sanctioned divisions separated by age and skill.
Canada’s Kane Waselenchuk, the defending Men’s Professional Champion and the No. 1 ranked men’s racquetball player in the world, is scheduled to compete. Waselenchuk and his three-year 137 match winning streak were recently profiled in the New York Times. Paola Longoria from Mexico, the defending Women’s Professional Champion, also will compete. Longoria is the top-ranked women’s player in the world and capped off the 2011-2012 season with an undefeated record.
